Granite vs. Quartz

What are the Differences Between Granite and Quartz?

If you've ever shopped around for countertops, you know that their are many decisions that must be made including color, width, and shape. But, the first question to answer is what material you want your countertops to be made of. You may be thinking, "They're just countertops, aren't they all the same?" The answer is, "No!" Not only are the aesthetics different, but there are also many functional differences between each type of countertop material.

How Does Fabrication Differ Between Each Stone?

All types of stone vary so each is fabricated differently. Stones vary in hardness - some are easy to cut and some are very difficult. This can cause issues when fabricating because some stones will separate at fissures more than others, some will not polish as easy, and some will chip and pit more easily. This, in turn, can result in different costs due to the difficulty of the stone.

The other thing customers often don't realize is that samples are only to show a general color. Slabs can vary in color depending on blocks. One Moonlight granite block may be darker or lighter than the next moonlight granite block. That is the unique thing about natural stone.
